The gala night commenced with a brief cocktail reception as guests arrived. On arrival of the presidential representative, the event was formally opened with a classical rendition of the National anthem. Guests settled to various forms of entertainment; from the Coca-Cola’s football story, speeches and music performances by Nigeria’s top talents. Dinner was served as guests were serenaded by the live band.

In 2018 Coca-Cola leveraged the brand association with FIFA World Cup, to further recruit and build brand love & affinity. This association launched the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour inviting fans around the world to get #ReadyFor the highly anticipated 2018 FIFA World Cup™ by giving them the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close to the popular world cup Trophy

The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola visited 91 cities, across 51 countries and six continents including NIGERIA (Lagos & Abuja), giving thousands of fans the chance to experience football’s most coveted prize.

Agency was briefed to create and manage the entire 2-day trophy tour experience in Nigeria but specifically in Abuja.

Building the concept

Members of the team executed the Abuja leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola for Townceriers Limited, with an airport viewing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, a VIP event at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and a consumer event at the Old Parade Ground, targeted at thousands of football fans.

The World Cup trophy was graciously presented to the President Muhammadu Buhari by retired French international footballer, Christian Karembeu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, with another VIP event at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja hosted by the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo and other sport, diplomatic and corporate dignitaries.
